Moira

Astrology as the Greeks practised it — planetary days, your natal chart with its aspects and lots, and a daily practice in the classical virtues.

How it works

The same short walkthrough shown the first time you open the app:

Getting started

  1. Open the Today tab — each day belongs to one of the seven classical planets, and each planetary lord carries a Greek quality to cultivate.
  2. Take the daily practice — a short scenario written around today's quality. Just respond honestly.
  3. Enter your birth details in Settings to unlock your natal chart — the full Hellenistic wheel.
  4. Explore Sky and Chart — the current heavens, and your own: planets, aspects, and the ancient lots.

The tradition behind it

Moira is the Greek word for one's portion — and the name of the three Fates who spin, measure, and cut the thread of a life. Hellenistic astrologers (the tradition behind all Western astrology) read a birth chart as that portion made visible: seven planets, their aspects to one another, and calculated points called lots — the Lot of Fortune above all.

But the philosophers who used it — Stoics especially — insisted the chart shows the hand you were dealt, not how you must play it. The app takes their side: every reading points back to a quality you can practise today.

Common questions

How is this different from newspaper horoscopes? Sun-sign columns collapse the whole tradition into one factor. A Hellenistic chart uses your exact birth moment — every planet, its sign, its aspects, and the lots. And the reading is reflective, not predictive.
What are "lots"? Calculated points — arithmetic on planet positions — that the Greeks treated as sensitive spots in a chart. The best known is the Lot of Fortune. The app computes the classical ones from your chart.
Does it work offline? The charts and sky are computed on the device. The daily scenario and Ask need a connection to our generation service.
